Plan a party from your AI assistant

Last updated

Ask an AI assistant to plan a party and you get a good list. Then you copy it into a notes app, build the invitation somewhere else, count RSVPs in a third place, and the assistant never hears about any of it again. It can suggest, but it cannot keep track.

Connected to PartyPal, the assistant works on the real party instead. It can create the event and its plan, tell you what is left to do, read the RSVPs with party sizes and dietary needs, write the brief for the baker, and answer the invitations you have received. You keep planning in the chat you already use, and everything it does is in the app when you open it.

What you can ask

Talk to it the way you would talk to a friend who is helping. A few things hosts ask:

  • "Plan Maya's 8th birthday on May 2 at 2pm, about 20 kids, in Brooklyn, dinosaur theme." It creates the party with a checklist, a timeline and a budget sized to the headcount and the city.
  • "Who is coming, and are there any allergies?" It reads the RSVPs: who said yes, how many are in each party, how many are children, and every dietary need.
  • "What is left to do this week?" It reads the checklist, and ticks things off or adds new ones when you tell it to.
  • "Write the cake brief." It writes the brief for that vendor from your plan: servings from the headcount, flavours and the theme.
  • "Draft quote requests for decorators near me." It finds local vendors and writes one message each, sharing only the details you choose.
  • "How much have we spent?" It reads the budget and records an expense when you give it one.

It works when you are the guest, too

Most people go to more parties than they host. The same connection shows the invitations you have received. Ask "what should I bring to Sam's party?", "RSVP yes for two of us, one vegetarian", or "gift ideas for a 6-year-old who loves space", and add the party to your calendar.

A party you are invited to shows you the invitation, never the host's budget or guest list.

Nothing is sent without you

An assistant that can act on your behalf should not be able to email thirty parents by mistake. The PartyPal connector cannot send anything to your guests or vendors. Invitations, reminders, thank-yous and vendor briefs are drafted as cards, and they go out only when you approve them in the app.

Anything that spends or notifies asks first: creating a party, AI writing, answering an invitation, cancelling a party. The assistant shows you a summary and continues only once you confirm, and PartyPal's servers enforce that, not just the assistant. Guests are named by first name only, so no email address or phone number reaches the chat. It cannot buy credits, change your account or permanently delete anything.

Connect your assistant

It takes about a minute, and you need a free PartyPal account.

  1. Open your assistant's connector settings. In Claude: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector. In ChatGPT: Settings, Connectors, in developer mode. In Gemini: Settings, Connected apps, Custom apps. In Muse: Connectors, Custom connector.
  2. Paste the PartyPal server address: https://partypal.social/api/mcp
  3. Sign in to PartyPal when the assistant asks, and approve the connection. (Muse and other MCP clients can also use an access token from Settings, AI assistants, in PartyPal.)
  4. Ask it something: "What parties do I have coming up?"

What stays in the app

Some things are better seen than described. The moodboard, the invitation design and publishing the invite happen in PartyPal: the assistant can set the theme and hand you the invite link once it is published, and you decide what it looks like. The same goes for approving anything that gets sent.

Everything the assistant does lands on the same party you see in the app, so you can start a plan in a chat on your laptop and pick it up on your phone.

Common questions

Can ChatGPT plan a party?

On its own it can write a plan, but it cannot keep track of it. Connected to PartyPal, it creates the party with a checklist, timeline and budget, reads your RSVPs and dietary needs, and updates the plan as things change.

Which AI assistants work with PartyPal?

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Muse, through their connector settings. PartyPal is a hosted MCP server, so any assistant that supports custom MCP connectors can use it.

Can my assistant send invitations to my guests?

Not by itself. It drafts invitations, reminders and thank-yous as cards, and they are sent only after you approve them in the PartyPal app.

Can the assistant see my guests' contact details?

No. Guests are named by first name only; email addresses and phone numbers are never returned to the assistant.

Does connecting an assistant cost extra?

No. The connection is free. Creating a new party uses one event credit, the same as creating it in the app, and your first events are free.
